The Law Of Attraction And The Secret - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Have you noticed that the phrases The Secret and the Law of Attraction have become interchangeable since the launch of the movie The Secret in March 2006?

On the up side, The Secret has opened millions of minds to what was previously an ‘underground teaching' followed mostly the new-age movement. Better still, it inspired people to try out visualization techniques and dream bigger, which can only be a good thing. Several friends of mine will even testify that the movie was a pivotal turning point in their lives...

Everything, including The Secret, has its flip side - a negative to balance the positive.

So, let's look at the flipside of the rise to fame of The Secret.

Most notably, thousands of people are left wondering why they are still battling to manifest more than just empty parking spaces using the law of attraction.

The Secret has led people to believe that their results are a product of some force outside of
themselves, not a product their own efforts. Often, these people are secretly hoping that the Law Of Attraction will magically manifest their success for them without them having to actually do anything outside their comfort zone.

They want results from the law of attraction, yet they are not willing to actually DO anything to get those results. They want their brand new red Ferrari to be given to them by ‘the genie' in the sky somewhere!

Let me ask you a question... Do you know ANYONE who you would consider super-successful, who became successful by sitting at home wishing for success?

Of course not!

Sadly, if not properly educated about how the law of attraction really works, the ‘genie worshippers' either end up blaming themselves for their perceived failure or writing off the law of attraction altogether - Neither of which moves them forward in life.

OK, I know I'm ranting... I'm just fed up of all the lies being spread on the internet about how the Law Of Attraction will somehow, magically solve all your problems.

Law Of Attraction - How It Really Works

Here's how the Law Of Attraction works - from my experience rather than theory.

The Law Of Attraction brings opportunities, not end results.

You need to act on those opportunities in order to get the results you want.

The Law Of Attraction only really kicks in when you begin taking massive take ACTION in the world. It's called co-creation. You take action and 'show the Universe that you mean business' and the Universe then responds (through cause and effect) with the right opportunities to move you towards your goals fast.

Got it? Great!

What About Creative Visualization?

Visualization techniques play TWO important roles in getting results with the Law Of Attraction.

They re-program your belief systems so that you go out into the world and actually take the ACTION, instead of procrastinating and worrying about failing.
Creative visualization activates the 'observer effect' - a Quantum Physics term to describe what happens to subatomic particles (the things that make up the Universe) when we watch them. Simply put, the Observer Effect plays a HUGE role in the process of attraction, which is why visualization is such a powerful tool.

If you are not doing it, you're missing out.

The take away here is that if you VISUALIZE regularly and take ACTION, you'll begin attracting more and moving forwards QUICKLY. As you continue, you'll gain momentum and before long you'll be a lot closer to your goals than where you are now.

YES, I have oversimplified this process and YES, there are a lot more factors involved in effortlessly manifesting your dreams, but if you can just get only these TWO habits in place (regular creative visualization practice and taking action), you'll fly leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the pack.

Opening our Hearts and Coming Home To Love By Carol Goddard

Opening our Hearts and Coming Home To Love

By Carol Goddard

That is our choice in every moment, to resist what 'is' or to open our heart and reconnect with our deep inner essence, and see the ease and grace and beauty and Love that is there. If we choose resistance then we are choosing suffering. If we choose to open our heart then our experience is of freedom and a peace beyond understanding.

Having our attention in this moment allows us to fully experience the majesty of life itself. The ordinary can then be experienced as extraordinary. Stillness is found in the present moment. We often search for stillness in the past or future, however it only exists in the present moment. Stillness in the present moment is the space of clarity, and of infinite possibilities.

As a student of Life, I have learned from peoples experiences around the 'raw' times of life: birth and death and crisis, and I have been touched by the Grace that is palpable as one heart opens and then connects with another's opening heart. If you have experienced this yourself, you will recall the sense of time expanding and of the filters we view life through lifting. This allows you to see others from the purity of your heart and the clarity of your mind. You get to see the essence of the other person.

Opening our Heart and Coming Home To Love, allows resentment and fears to dissolve, as you now focus on what you truly love! As we know, energy flows where our attention goes, so let's energize Love and Gratitude. Approaching life from Love and Gratitude brings a whole new dimension to our experience of everything. We become open to experiencing inspiration flowing through us. This is the space of clarity and of seeing opportunities that before were seemed hidden. Now you are able to Move Forward With Clarity.

Carol opens her heart and does what she loves most which is holding the space for you to open your heart and reconnect with your inner essence, and see the ease and grace and beauty and Love that is there.

How to Truly Manifest, Easier Than You Think!

Why is it that so many people have a challenge manifesting what they desire? Because they are too busy visualizing what they want. Does this sound contradictory to everything you have been taught? Yes. Then what is it that would drive someone to visualize what they want or to pursue their dreams? Truthfully, it's  that they have forgotten who they really are.

Our inner journey to rediscovering who we are, even when it is very fascinating can sometimes appear overwhelming or scary, because it challenges us to reevaluate our whole life including our habits, belief systems and everything we have claimed so tenaciously as to be the ultimate truth. Our minds are so used to the way things are that to suggest that there could be another way may seem like a threat,  or an insult to our intellectualized ideas of how things are or ought to be.

So if the journey is so fascinating, why is it that so many people do not embark on it? There are many answers to that question which are rooted in the same thing, fear:  Fear of the unknown, fear of failure sometimes fear of disappointment that the whole time invested in getting to know ourselves may be wasted.

The bottom line is that in order for us to experience ourselves as who we really are, spiritual beings who are perfect, whole and complete, we literally have to let go of any idea of who we are not, human beings living in a world which is determined by outer circumstances and events, even when those circumstances and events may be what we have experienced.

Memory and experience is what keeps people trapped in the world as they know it. So how do we shift from the world as we know it to the world we want to experience? The following story will assist me in explaining how we can shift our awareness and why we sometimes experience fear when in truth all we need is to trust.

A Sailor's Tale

A poor sailor wants to discover a new world. A world he has never seen physically but he has dreamed about. The only way he can experience the dream he has envisioned is through silence. So as he sails out on the ocean, he sits in silence and a peaceful and pleasant smile showers his face as the vision of a new world occupies his mind.

When he shares his vision with others, most people laugh while others do not even bother to listen to him. "Experts" will try to discourage him by declaring that the issuance of a new world is impossible. .According to their studies, it is pretty obvious that once you get to what appears to be the edge of the ocean, which is what the naked eye can only perceive, there is nothing else.

Somewhere in the sailor's heart, he still wants to follow his vision. By himself, he decides to sail away in search for the promised land. He is moving from the known, the "physical," to the unknown, the "consciousness." He does not know what he is going to find. All he knows is that a very quiet voice keeps getting louder as he experiences more silence. By shutting down the outer world he can connect more deeply with his inner voice, which guides him and inspires him.

As he sails farther and farther away, he begins to experience fear and doubt. He still can go back because he has not lost site of the land. This is a very critical point for most people because as we move to the realm of the spirit, unless we can lose sight of that which we are familiar, (deleted the word, with, it is not necessary) it is very difficult to open ourselves to a new experience. At this point the sailor decides to move on in pure faith and trust. He is in the middle of the ocean where he has lost complete site of land and cannot really point out where he is going. There are times when he experiences fear, worry, or anxiety, and the only way he can avoid these feelings is by going within, and experiencing the silence which brings him back to peace.

In the stillness he begins to develop a sense of trust which keeps him serene as he continues on his journey. Somewhere on the horizon he sees land and he gets really excited. He sails across some of the most beautiful islands until finally he finds himself in the place he has  .  He not only has gained a sense of inner awareness of who he is, but also experiences wonderful and fascinating places he would not have experienced,  if he had  listened to what the world dictated was possible or not.

Everyone on the island was drawn to him seeking that inner peace that the sailor was able to maintain.  Endowed now with new awareness and knowledge, he becomes a spiritual counselor who is loved and admired by everyone. People bring him food, money, and gifts;  he than becomes the wealthiest and clearly the most popular person on the island. The island of his dreams.

As you can see, there is an inner voice that knows the truth and wants us to experience it. We have to go deeper when sailing through unknown waters,  because these are the times which  give us the opportunity to truthfully  experience the exquisiteness of our soul. As we see our visions manifest, we develop an inner sense of trust where we no longer fear anything, because now we know that the one who planted the seed or the desire in our hearts is always going to be there to assist  us in completing the vision.

The interesting part in all of this is that when we truly let go and trust, we may end up doing something completely different from that which we previously thought was going to makes us happy. The sailor didn't know what he would end up doing with his life. All he knew is that he wanted to find that promised land, and as a result of listening and trusting, he ended up experiencing love, excitement, fulfillment and wealth beyond his wildest dreams. From a poor sailor to a wealthy spiritual counselor. Who would have thought?

End of Tale

I would like to add something to the story before it becomes misinterpreted by many. Once again, this is not about visualizing what you want. It is about letting go and allowing the vision to come through you, which is the opposite of what is being taught by most teachers. The sailor did not visualize the island of his dreams, the vision was there first, he then moved in that direction trusting his inner guidance.

We all have that Guidance available right here and now; the key is to listen, letting peace enter and prevail over everything.  Those who think that our driving force is pain and pleasure will never experience the peace that passes understanding. They will simply spend their whole life chasing something that will never satisfy them.  And that is to dream the impossible dream. To reach the unreachable star.

True Forgiveness

Although it may seem as if there are many seeming blocks that interfere with our peace of mind the only real one is forgiveness. Forgetting the fact that it's all an illusion, the reality of it makes us feel as if we are being done wrong as opposed to accepting the fact that nothing is being done to us but that it's all a projection coming from us onto the screen we call the physical realm. If everything we see is a projection coming from us, then what we think is being done by someone else to us is really being done to us by us.

A Course In Miracles says; "The secret to salvation is but this: that you are doing this unto yourself."

So when we see an illusion that seems to be treating us in ways where we feel like a victim, first we must understand that we are the one creating the illusion. From that point, instead of us trying to interpret the situation, we simply remember to forgive ourselves for what we have created and - whatever discomfort we feel - we offer it to the Holy Spirit to interpret for us; for only then can true healing and peace of mind occur. A Course In Miracles says; "Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. It does not pardon sins and make them real. It sees there was no sin. And in that view are all your sins forgiven."

I would like you to pay attention to this line from the passage; "It does not pardon sins and make them real." Since nothing is real, there is nothing to pardon. By pardoning something is to make something real, according to A Course In Miracles since we are projecting our guilt and fears, that which we see in the seeming outside world is nothing but a projection of our own consciousness. That's just a creation of the ego so that blame can then be justified.

You must remember that what you see out there is simply reflecting back to you what you believe to be true for you, and/or about you. So if you see something you don't like, forgive yourself for creating it because the only way you'll never have to see it again is not by pardoning others for what they did not do but by removing their imagined sins from your own unconscious mind altogether.  Jesus the Christ understood very clearly this concept of being one with God. The reason why he did not judge anyone or anything is because he knew that if what he was seeing was a projection of his unconscious mind outward, in other words himself disguised as something or someone else, the things he believed to be true about others were nothing but reflections of the things he believed to be true about himself. So he would see everyone as perfect whole and complete, being one with God without sin.

A Course In Miracles says; "For you can teach him only that he is as you would have him, and what you choose he be is but your choice for you."

So if you see others as guilty, what that really means is that you are the guilty one projecting your guilt unto what appears to be another. If you see others as innocent, then the same is true for you. And by the way that's why Jesus was able to forgive for he knew that in forgiving others all he was doing was forgiving himself.
